    Demetris Washington AKA "BAMR"

    Sacramento, USA

Having been born in Fort Ord, and having lived in East Oakland, South Hayward, Stockton and as a resident of Sacramento since 2009, artist Demetris "BAMR" Washington is no stranger to the diverse range of culture that the Golden State has to offer These cultural influences are often evident in his works, as he creates with an aim to reach just about anyone who finds appeal in art.

B.A.M.R., which stands for Becoming A Man Righteously, is the name the Demetris has been signing his works with since 2009, starting with a fence facing the I-5 freeway in Stockton, CA. The inspiration behind both the name and Demetris' pursuit of a career in the arts are rooted in the birth of his two sons and his desire to be the greatest example possible to them. Although his legacy began in the streets, Demetris has since graduated from the Art Institute of Sacramento with an AS degree in graphic design and has also worked with a long list of notable clients, including the Sacramento Kings, the California Endowment, the Crocker Art Museum, the Downtown Sacramento Partnership, United Way Sacramento, the Mack Road Partnership, and many more.

Since 2009, he has completed more than 25 murals throughout the city of Sacramento ranging from smaller wood panels installed in the downtown streets to massive large scale murals located in some of the more blighted areas of town. Demetris' current focus is in continuing to do his part in turning the city of Sacramento into an art museum, and a place where people from across the world can come to be inspired.
